Highland Rigs Features
Every Highland Rigs build is designed around real use, not assumptions. From the foundation to the final materials, every decision is made to improve durability, function, and long-term usability.
Platforms
Every build starts with the right foundation. Highland Rigs primarily builds its Chino models on Mercedes Sprinter platforms, with the Chino using the 170 inch wheelbase and the Chino Mini using the 144 inch wheelbase. For custom builds, Ford Transit and other platforms can be considered when they fit the use case.

Used for the Chino Mini, creating a shorter and more maneuverable platform.
Ford Transit and other platforms can be considered for custom adventure or commercial conversions.
Layout Philosophy
A good layout is not just about fitting more into the van. It is about making the space easier to move through, easier to maintain, and easier to live with over time. Highland Rigs layouts are built around daily use, system access, storage, and long-term travel. Skiing, biking, hiking, surfing, kayaking, or your go-to activity, our vans are built to support your lifestyle.
Convertible layouts help the van stay open during the day while still supporting comfortable sleeping, dining, working, and storage.
Gear, tools, clothing, and daily-use items all need a place. Storage is integrated throughout the build instead of treated like an afterthought.
Electrical, water, heat, and utility systems are placed with serviceability in mind so the van can be maintained and upgraded over time.
Build Systems
Each system is selected and integrated as part of a complete build, not added individually.
Lithium batteries, solar, and alternator charging support extended off-grid use.
Heating and cooling systems are selected for real-world travel conditions.
Integrated water systems support daily use with minimal setup.
Storage is built around actual gear and daily use, not just visual design.
Racks, tires, and exterior systems add capability where it matters.
Starlink-ready setups and system monitoring keep the van functional on the road.
Materials & Finishes
Every material is selected for durability, weight, feel, and long-term performance. The goal is not to add unnecessary finishes. It is to build a van that holds up to real travel and still feels refined inside.
Cabinet systems are built for strength, storage, and long-term use inside a moving vehicle.
Flooring is selected for durability, cleanability, and the ability to handle real travel conditions.
Interior wall finishes are chosen to keep the space clean, refined, and practical over time.
Hardware is selected for repeat use, secure storage, and reliable performance on rough roads.
These builds are designed to be used, not just viewed. From long-distance trips to extended off-grid travel, every system, material, and layout decision is made to perform over time.
